Frequently Asked Questions

Choosing the right school is one of the most important decisions a family makes. Here are straightforward answers to the questions parents ask most often about faith, academics, admissions, scholarships, and daily life at Miami Springs Adventist School.

1. What grades does Miami Springs Adventist School serve?

We serve students in kindergarten through 8th grade. Our K-8 model lets children grow alongside the same community of teachers and families from early literacy through the start of adolescence, building a consistent academic and spiritual foundation that prepares them well for high school and beyond.

2. Is MSAS a Seventh-day Adventist school?

Yes. We are a Seventh-day Adventist school and part of the Florida Conference Office of Education, a network of 38 Adventist schools and early childhood centers across the state. Our curriculum, worship, and school culture are shaped by a biblical worldview and the Adventist conviction that education should develop the whole child: mind, body, and spirit.

3. Do students have to be Seventh-day Adventist to attend?

No. Our families come from many faith backgrounds, and many are not Adventist. We welcome students of every cultural and religious background with one expectation: that families support our mission and respect our standards, including daily worship, Bible class, and the rhythms of a Sabbath-oriented community. You do not need to share our beliefs to belong here.

4. What makes MSAS different from other private schools in Miami?

Four things parents consistently name in our annual Johns Hopkins Culture Survey: Christ at the center of every subject, teachers who know each child personally, a safe and secure campus, and strong academics in small classes. We have served Miami Springs as a Seventh-day Adventist K-8 school for more than 20 years, within a 38-school Florida Conference network and a global Adventist education tradition.

5. How does faith integrate with academics at MSAS?

Faith is not a separate subject at MSAS; it is the thread that runs through every subject. Students begin the day with worship, study the Bible daily, and also see scripture shape how we teach literature, science, history, and ethics. Chapel, service projects, and character-building activities give students regular chances to live what they are learning, not just recite it.

6. How does MSAS prepare students for high school?

Our K-8 model gives students nine consecutive years of strong academics, consistent spiritual formation, and progressively expanding responsibility. By 8th grade, students have taken Bible class every year, completed service projects, engaged in STEAM learning, and built the study habits, character, and confidence that help them thrive at an Adventist academy or any high school they move into.

7. Are scholarships or financial assistance available?

Yes, and most MSAS families use them. We accept the Step Up For Students / Family Empowerment Scholarship and the AAA Scholarship Program, both of which can cover most or all of tuition for qualifying Florida families. We also accept Free and Reduced Lunch Program applications. Our office will walk you through exactly what your family qualifies for.

8. How do I apply to MSAS?

Start on our Apply Now page, which outlines the full enrollment process. New students entering grades 2 through 8 complete a placement assessment and a short interview with an MSAS teacher so we can make sure we are the right fit for your child. Applying early matters, because class sizes are intentionally small and spots fill quickly.

9. What documents do I need for enrollment?

Standard items include the completed application, your child's most recent report card, teacher or pastor recommendations, immunization and physical forms, a birth certificate, Social Security card, and a brief health history. Our admissions page has the complete checklist, and our office is glad to help any family who needs guidance pulling the paperwork together.

10. What are your school hours?

The school day runs 8:15 AM to 3:00 PM Monday through Thursday, and 8:15 AM to 1:00 PM on Fridays. The shortened Friday gives students and families time to prepare for the seventh-day Sabbath, which begins at sunset. Our office is open 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM Monday through Thursday and until 2:00 PM on Friday.

11. Is after-school care available?

Yes. Aftercare runs from dismissal until 4:00 PM Monday through Friday for a monthly fee. It gives working parents a safe, supervised bridge at the end of the school day, staffed by people your child already knows. Students have time for homework, play, and conversation, so they come home ready to be home.

12. Where is Miami Springs Adventist School located?

We are at 701 Curtiss Parkway, Miami Springs, FL 33166, a short drive from most Miami-Dade neighborhoods and close to the airport corridor. You can reach us at (305) 888-2244 or miamisprings@flcoe.org. Campus tours are the best way to get a feel for the school, and we welcome families to schedule one any time.
